MEET THE SANDMAN

A knock at the door, I look and see 4 of the most beautiful faces smiling back at me. We hug and kiss. Such happy feelings...They are all so anxious to see the new Path, Garden Shed and ask to see the UTV ... I said "Oh yes, Grandpa wants you boys to ... and Kyle says "Drive it?" "No, Grandpa wants you to name it" .. We enter the garage and hearts began pounding, eyes turned into saucers...Toy Heaven ...There was nothing Melissa or I could say or do to stop the action....I acted as dumb as I could about it while Melissa removed the boys from the seat, telling Scott to wait for Dad. But Scott's eyes were glazed, trance like. He seemed struck with an overwhelming desire to DRIVE ... there was no stopping him. Then in the blink of an eye, 3 were waving bye-bye....and the radio sang "Dust in the Wind"

Don returned from the Post Office greeting our Guest's at the top of the Path, stuck in the sand with the UTV. Melissa was holding a shovel, Kyle and Carson were running to the house and Scott was sweating. I observed a hush, heads bowed, eyes down as Don approached. "MAN" was all I heard Don say while he took control of the situation, freeing his UTV from the SAND. He greeted Scott while driving and parking it back in the garage. Later, I overheard Don say to Scott, "Come on, I'll give you a driving lesson, Son"
.........
And that's how ............. The Sandman got his name

The Garden Shed

This Spring we decided to build our barn, we need a place to store the toys that all boys want. A "MAN CAVE" ... Trees needed to be removed. Our next door neighbors ran down to the Township and complained. We were cutting down trees! They were informed by the town that if they were my trees, I could do that! Geez, what a Neighbor! After the land was cleared we decided we needed a garden shed. I started cutting out pictures from magazines, looking on line, drawing sketches of what I wanted and then we saw it........driving threw Rothbury one afternoon, I yelled "STOP, turn around that little building is For Sale. It was in front of the Oceana High School, built by students. It was absolutly the sweetest little building I had ever seen. It was love @ first sight!!
Oh, that neighbor of mine, he complained to the town again, said I was now bringing buildings onto my property.
I love my Garden Shed :)

Guests are Coming

I told Don this morning, "Guests are coming and I want to do a few things before..."

We get so excited when they're coming, we usually don't sleep good the night before...

Anticipating, all the fun we're going to have...there'll be a campfire, maybe even a couple!

Get the sand buckets down. Oh, hotdogs & marshmallows, Silver Lake smells like hotdogs & campfires......

I remember Don's dad, Steve would tease Milly about getting the house cleaned up before guests came. Home Sweet Home to 3 boys. Steve found Silver Lake and he loved to camp
Can't wait to see our guests...I love summer:)
